A link to the definition of cross-reading. Actually I was looking for something slightly different. I found out, when I am reading several books at the same time (well, not exactly the same time ofcourse), each time I find very interesting connections between the different subjects of the books. Ofcourse it depends on what kind of books you’re reading. When reading two novels, the connections will be less obvious. But I remember I once was reading a book about clouds, and one about the subconscious, I came across several amazing discoveries.
Yesterday I thought about it, and decided this phenomenon should be called ‘crossreading’. The definition mentioned above is not right, and I couldn’t find some other word which could describe my kind of reading. But perhaps there is, and I just do not know of it. (if you do, please let me know).
Another thing I found, is since I have been working with my subconscious in some kind of experimental way, I feel like it sort of becomes kind of natural to see connections between things. In fact, it’s too hard to explain this, espec. in English. Even in Dutch I think I just cannot explain it (yet). Also I think it could be just accidental. But I had some strange experiences lately. I presume other people would then think it was their dead mother in law sitting on the couch and whispering in Derek Ogilvies ear, but I prefer to think that all things we cannot explain (yet) are things within ourselves we don’t know about (yet). And I hope I get to live long enough, that some scientists will discover this.
